The DOLNET, LEFEVRE and PIGIS company, later known as Etablissements DOLNET, was founded in 1880. Several generations have continued the work and traditions of quality that have brought honor to this firm, passing from father to son. DOLNET has been called the Stradivarius of the clarinet; it was certainly one of the pioneers of the saxophone, as, along with military bands and with the advent of jazz, DOLNET was one of the first to present a range of advanced saxophones. Many renowned brands have benefited from its expertise. DOLNET boasts a prestigious record of achievements, including: Medals at the Universal Expositions of Paris in 1889 and 1900, the Gold Medal in Arras in 1904, the Gold Medal in Geneva in 1927, the Gold Medal at the International Exposition in 1937, and more recently, a coveted prize for its saxophone at the International Competition in The Hague, not to mention its successes at Expositions on both continents. Among the artistic collaborators who contributed to the development of DOLNET instruments are: the late François Combelle, solo saxophonist of the Republican Guard; the late Henri Le Roy, professor at the Institute of Musical Art in New York; the late Achille Grass, first prize winner at the Paris Conservatory and soloist with the Concerts Colonne; and Michel Nouaux, solo saxophonist of the Republican Guard.
