The new YBL-835, developed with support from internationally acclaimed artist Tomer Maschkowski of the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin, is an exciting evolution in Xeno bass trombone design, replacing the popular YBL-830 Xeno bass trombone. The new model features improved color and complexity in the sound, yellow brass and gold brass bell material options, and even a detachable bell option for more compact travel. Professional bass trombone players, amateurs and advancing students will notice the familiar ease and efficient feel of the previous model but with the added ability to put more air into the instrument with a more robust sound in return.
The YBL-835’s new receiver design allows the instrument to deliver more volume, a more powerful core in the sound, and enhanced playing response.
The depth at which the mouthpiece fits into the receiver has been reduced slightly, giving the mouthpiece more freedom to resonate. The result is a more flexible playing feel and easier control.
The rotary valve port shape has been modified to increase the volume of air that can pass through the valve tube for a wider, more powerful sound.
The lever action has been upgraded with a shorter stroke for a smoother, more comfortable action. Other refinements include a double torsion spring for consistent lever operation and double ball bearings which reduces the need for maintenance.
The shape of the first lever cover has been changed to better fit the player’s hand, and the angle of the second lever finger plate is adjustable to precisely match the player’s hand size. Fine adjustability means optimum operability for any player.
The first detachable and adjustable hand rest in a custom bass trombone significantly reduces strain on the player’s hand and fingers. This steadier hold on the instrument allows the player to concentrate on the music.
The location of the hand rest has a minimal effect on the instrument’s tone, but it can be easily detached and removed from the instrument entirely by using the supplied hex wrench.
Both the YBL-835 and YBL-835G feature a gold brass main tuning slide that contributes to a broader, richer tone.
Not only does a detachable bell allow more compact storage, but the added weight of the bell screw section can help add depth and projection to the sound.
